2004 54 plate RR vogue digital tv - is it really possible

hi guys,

im at my witts end tbh. I have spent almost 2 days reading up on fitting a digital tv unit into my 54 plate RR vogue that has a touch screen sat nav. It looks like there possibly can be a few options but no one says 100% this is what u need and this is how you do it. putting aside the option of buying a hybrid box, how else is it possible.

I have seen this on ebay with looks great:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-Car-DVB-...27bd8fb7f0

but how would I get this connected into my car, what wires would I need and where would I connect it.

also what is the can bus i bus .... whatever bus. I understands its essentially the electrical network in the car but how would I know what mines is and whats the difference.

sorry for being a pain everyone, i just really want to learn... thanks

easiest way is to by a hybrid box, but you know that already...the only other way i know is to get a gvif unit which effectively breaks into the nav screen most feed and gives you an input for reverse camera and a/v..with this you still have to get a tuner like the one in your ebay link..

what you need to remember is that all the hardware is in the boot and that feeds the screen at the front, so any aftermarket additions will have to go also in the back..

edit ..this might help you understand whats involved... http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic49789.html

thats the one the disco3 boys are on about ...

tbh, i've thought about doing something to get digital in mine but the cost and effort involved outways the advantage of doing it..i rather spend £200/300 on a decent lcd for the bedroom ...

again, the best way is a hybird which will give you proper screen menus and i believe bmw and jag units will fit ,its just finding the right part number ..

Thanks for the part number trafpol

I think the reason why I looked at GVIF box over a OEM hybrid tuner is because im limited with the original tuner, whereas with the GVIF I can other things, reverse cam etc etc

just need to figure out how to actually do it lol.

cheers all

Unfortunately the 05MY (54/05) cant use the BMW hybrid tuner OR the later Jag hybrid tuner IIRC. They are a sort of crossover year.

btw you can fit an aftermarket reverse camera to yours but it has to be 'switched' on in the ccf by some one who has an autologic or faultmate...

Ah right I see, do you have an example of a rev cam I could buy ? I dont have an issue with fitting it or wiring it through to the back etc but where would it plug in ?
