There was very little oil in it at the start. I'll get it drained, check the drain valve and pray for a miracle! Rehab is for quitters!!!

Scotland 2007 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black

I hate threads that don't deliver an final outcome so let me try to wrap this up though it's been going on so long I'm bound to miss some items.

So today it passed its mot without any advisories. 😁 Yay, very happy day!!!

The original obliterating white smoke was down to two faulty injectors.

The grey smoke once we cured the white stuff were the primary turbo seals starting to go. BTW I can get brand new, not recon, turbos at about ½ of LR's prices if anyone needs one.

The oil cooler was replaced along with the all the O rings of differing sizes along with the leak off pipes. I think the thermostat was changed.

Had a full service.
New set of wheels & tyres. Changed brake pipes as necessary to Kunifer and changed the brake fluid.

The car fought us every inch of the way. Immediately after the turbo was changed it wouldn't start. Turned out the starter had decided it was next in line to cause grief. 🙄

I found someone who writes the remap software as opposed to most dealers who simply buy it in. Treated it to a stage 1 remap and honestly I cannot believe the way it hurls 2½ tons of steel at the horizon. Absolutely mind-blowing and most of my cars run 0-60 around 5-6 seconds so this feels right up there after the remap. I will time it at some point.

Thanks for all your advice, suggestions, support and interest along the way.
If I've learned one thing it's to try it for yourself rather than be put off by someone else's report that something is mission impossible. That's assuming you have experience of working on vehicles and understand what the components do. Conversely if you don't have the knowledge and don't think you'll learn on the job then don't start what you can't finish. A lot of people don't want, rightly in my view, to take over a half done job.

After over ten years together, I finally sorned my 3.6 TDV8 which is now for sale. Mot'd till end of next May, I've never kept a car that long, not even close but I loved that car and just hope the new love I have for this 4.4 TDV8 lasts as long, at which time it will probably see me out.
I'm told I'm also going to sell my RR 2000 P38 4.6 Met red if anyone is interested?

I'm looking for a detachable towbar with the wiring loom and a front camera if anyone is selling either of them please contact me.

Thanks again. Rehab is for quitters!!!
