00by I completely understand your original question. As others have said, mine too behaves how yours does. I couldn’t believe either that arguably the most time sensitive function can disable with so little fanfare.

I don’t use it for this reason - you can’t relax at all using it just in case it hands control back to you, so you might as well not use it at all. In fact I think I have to concentrate more when it is active, which is surely not the point.

Interested to know how you find the accompanying adaptive cruise control? I find it less good than on my previous three L405s - it seems to constantly accelerate then brake as though it can’t quite figure out how to be smooth. Most noticeable on gentle uphills where it is un-usable when following traffic. Passengers ask me to turn it off which is not great on a car built for luxury transport.

Exactly! Even a little bong would make it so much better to use. It does seem to be more reliable than when I first got the car, though I could just be getting used to it and predicting where it might struggle.

As for the ACC, I know what you mean from my experience in my previous car (2023 Discovery) - that too used to constantly surge with the traffic and change gears to accelerate then do it too much and...yes, not very pleasant.

I don't remember my L494 doing that, but it's been a few years since I had it. The wife's BMW was fantastic at it all, so smooth and effortless.

My MY25 L460 is acceptable - much, much better than the Discovery, but not perfect. I'm not sure if this is purely down to the new gearbox they put in these (it was a revision for the MY25 I think) making for smoother changes so it's less perceptible. I can use it without getting too annoyed, though!

Either way, plenty of tweaking still to do on these systems it seems.

United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

00by - my apologies for being a little late to the party.
I picked up a ‘24 model year L460 P530 a few days ago and came onto the forum to see any threads on this topic. In answer to the question you asked - rather than opining on your use of ADAS 🤭 - it is not just your vehicle and I have not yet discovered a way to alter the sensitivity or settings for this feature.

I trialed the setting on a run down to Surrey yesterday and found that on the M25, particularly when cresting sweeping bends, the system appeared to struggle and veer out of lane. To your point, the only indication was that the car did not seem to be adequately responding to the direction change as keenly as you or I would - or the car should - and appeared to be heading toward the verge, where upon I intervened. This happened on a couple of occasions over a 10 minute period, but I noticed it appeared to only happen when I was in the outside lane, when the offside lane marking was a (slightly duller?!) solid white line which blended somewhat more with the kerb / verge than the black tarmac. The intermediate lanes are perhaps more clearly discernible by the (slightly brighter?!) broken-line lane markings.

I take your point about BMW‘s system, although I have not tried it in my wife’s car (an X5). I did however, have a box fresh XC90 as a loan car, when my previous L405 was waiting on backorder parts, and my experience with the Volvo system was flawless. Coincidentally, I used it on the same 90mile run and found that the only thing required from me on the 40-odd mile stretch of the M25 was to keep my hands loosely on the wheel. I don’t recall it switching off or missing a step once and while I am ‘a driver’ and fear the day when we aren’t allowed to do so ourselves, in favor of autonomous vehicles, I did find it deeply impressive - and this was all a couple of years ago!

I will continue to try the system the L460 system to better understand what it can - and can’t - do. I will assume that perhaps there is some ‘learning’ involved or even better that any update to the software will make it at least XC90 good - which I would hope LR would do as soon as available, given that it is a safety feature. It would be interesting to know if your experience has improved over the course of the year.

All the best.
