Constant Tension Hose Clamps Warning... | |

I noticed a wet patch on the drive just behind the nearside rear wheel, it's been there a while, usually hidden by condensation dripping of fatty and masking it, anyway this morning it was the only wet patch, I guessed what it would be...??
(yes I know it's dirty, see below)
Off to borrow a ramp, wheel and arch liner out and it reveals the coolant and air conditioner pipes that pass through the arch to the rear HVAC unit.
This was the two coolant pipes I changed when I did the ACE pipes, the constant tension hose clamps seemed OK but one had failed and was weeping, not a great amount... Although it certainly pi55ed out when you touched the pipe and moved it a few mm's.
I've never really trusted these hose clips, always found jubilee clips to work better, but they do seem to be everywhere...
I replaced the clip with a jubilee clip and all was back together and water tight again...
New clip in red, old constant tension clip in yellow, thought it might as well stay there as it's loose and not squashing the pipe at all, saved a drain down...

The brown stuff was put on when the pipes were changed, it's Dinitrol ML, just to help with any salt thrown up here...
Back home and gave it a good wash, the ceramic coating (bottom of this page https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic64965-75.html) made a huge difference, so easy to clean it and leave it looking like new again....
So watch these clips they are far from infallible!!
