Ok so - When i installed the headunit, and putting the dash etc back together. I wired the two Glove boxes back in incorrectly, blew a fuse etc.

Now even wiring back up correctly, it keeps blowing the fuse and neither glove box will open at all.

So, is it the actuators on the glove boxes?

Ive just been driving around for the past month with no lower glove box installed, but i think id like it back in

Ok, so ive refined the issue thats blowing the fuse to the upper glove box.

As soon as thats connected, the fuse blows.

So... Is there another similar looking connector? (other than the lower glove box, which has 2 leads for switch/lightbulb)
What could be shorting and blowing the fuse there? :/

I had an issue on my old MY07 where the glovebox switch (its actually a small module) died and wouldn't open either glovebox on demand, but then the top box would randomly open. It also caused a battery drain on the car, it was an easy fix once I managed to source a replacement switch - a bit more difficult 5 years ago as not many were being broken!

I had no fuse issues and there was no reason as such for the switch to fail it just simply died one day.

As for it blowing fuses it could well be damaged internally - I would expect the actuators to be more resilient than the switch so I would buy one and try it I would imagine they are fairly inexpensive these days. 2005 E60 M5

So i ordered a new button from ebay - managed to refine the issue to something wrong with the actuator on the upper glovebox.

As soon as it was connected, it blew a fuse (can tell instantly as the car locks dont work, as theyre on the same circuit).
Replaced fuse, tried again, blew again and small amount of smoke came from the new electric button - Literally no issues connecting the bottom glove box actuator.

So, honestly no idea what would have made any of that happen - I can live without the gloveboxes really, so ill keep an eye out for another new button, and top glove box actuator i guess.

Where you ever able to sort this?
