Acceptable amount of water in the door skin?

While having a door card and speaker out from the rear door I decided to wash the car. I noticed a fair amount of water in the space between the outer and inner door skins. Stuck my hand up there and traced it to this poorly fitting belt molding. Regardless of fit, it seems like the molding is not designed to make the doors waterproof. Is it really normal to have water going though the area in the door with electronics?

For reference, the other side fits better, but still has a significant gap.

For reference it rained pretty hard yesterday and when I opened the door, this is what I saw on the speaker opening.

Mine look slightly tighter, but there are still clear gaps. I've never looked before and assume there are appropriate drain holes somewhere......

Have two L405s parked here right now. Gaps on these are about the same as in the above pictures. The 2014 is a little better than the 2016.

The drain holes on the bottom work well, it’s just strange that it seems expected that the back of the speaker will be getting water on it, and I’m wondering if that’s why both my rear speakers are failing.
