FSR?

We had a situation yesterday where my wife parked up and the blower motor carried on running (at a low speed) the light was flashing on the fan control knob and the light was flashing on the stereo power knob. A restart and turn off cured it.

It has been suggested that it could be FSR, someone else has suggested that maybe the fuel burning heater remote button had been pressed.

A couple of questions:

Anyone who has had FSR problems - did you have the control knob flashing?

The flashing stereo control knob, I’ve never paid attention to this before, when is it supposed to flash?

Hi, I've had this same problem.

I't went away by itself, I'm not sure if it was because it was a short trip and the car wasn't up to temp or what the reason was.

Then again, twice I've been sat in the car waiting for something and the FBH has initiated all by itself for no apparent reason.

The radio button flashes for a few munites after you switch off, to let you know it's still active if you want to turn it back on without the ignition.

All part of the fun of LR ownership I guess.

Fan running on is generally the FSR or hedgehog. My blower motor wasn’t functioning correctly although wasn’t running on. I fitted a cheap Amazon aftermarket FSR which gave up after 30 days and caused running on of the blower.

Rather than fit another cheapo and not wanting to spend £160 or so on a new FSR, I bought 2 used original FSRs off eBay for £24 delivered for the pair. I figured that one might work and if neither did, I could return them as not working under eBay’s returns policy.

Turns out they both work, so have one fitted and one on the shelf if the fitted one gives up.

Makes sense to have the one the Land Rover thought good enough.

If you’re looking on eBay you want the ones made by Sitronic. There are other branded ones available new for about £60 or so, but your call on how you want to go absolutely it. A bit fiddly to fit and make sure you get the correct one for your car as there are 2 shapes to the heat sink prongs.

The blower running on will flatten your battery.
