is this a con

See the pics attach. I'm glad to know you're interested in purchasing my Range Rover.
I work in the military and I'm emailing you from the UK army base right now. I have the car with me. I'm scheduled to leave the United Kingdom in September so I'd like to sell it as soon as possible.
Since I'm weeks due deployment and I'm not granted permissions to leave the base and the security policy at army forbids visits, I've started shipping preparations with our Logistics department here on base. Shipping will be free on your part and it takes 2-4 days, depending on location.
This car was inspected and approved in eBay's Vehicle Purchase Protection program and I'd like to use them. With eBay VPP you get to inspect the car for 7 days before committing to buy and I'm guaranteed to get paid when the title transfer is complete.
I hope we're level here and we're both looking for a safe and fast transaction, which is what I need. Please send me your complete name and shipping address so I can initiate the eBay VPP transaction, they will contact you with important guidelines and instructions within 24h.

Hope to hear from you soon,
Sgt. David Burke

he sent me photos of the car ,which looks very nice ,but this is the second one that has said there in the armed force ,last one was abroad but with a similar e-mail.

Yes it is identical to a deal I was offered on a tractor. The ad was later removed from ebay.
Send it to "spoof@ebay.co.uk" If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem!!

In this country I think also most of those working for the MOD do not say they work for "the military" they say "I work in the armed forces" or "I'm in the Army/Air Force/Navy" Only Americans work for the military or the Defense Dept 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

It's always the poor standard of English which is the easiest giveaway on these scams, though this one was pretty easy to spot anyway.

It's like there's a special school of English as a scam language where all these guys go, and learn how to write these ads which always sound like they couldn't possibly be written by somebody from England!

Or perhaps there's one guy behind all the scams, or at least composing all the copy for them! Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

just got this off him Rolling with laughter

It had been a pleasure if we would had the chance to meet personally but unfortunately i am in the army and that's way i have asked eBay's help to do the transaction for me.

I have briefly described the eBay transaction steps below:

1. Buyer, seller reach an agreement (price and delivery conditions)
2. Buyer sends money to eBay account.
3. eBay confirms to seller that the amount has been received.
4. Seller performs the required services (shipping, insurance).
5. Buyer accepts delivery and informs eBay about the acceptance.
6. eBay releases the money to seller.

As you can see, you will receive the car BEFORE any money is released to me from eBay's account. You will get the chance to inspect it, test drive it and everything you like while your money is still safely held in eBay's account. ONLY after you confirm to eBay that you agree with the vehicle, they will release the money to me.

If you wish to proceed further, I will need your complete name and address so I can start the transaction with eBay and they will contact you
with more infos.
