no steering column adjustment - fixed. | |
When I first got my car, the steering column adjustment would go down but not up. However, it would go up via a memory seat selection. So, to me, the motors were working but the signals were corrupted.
This week it lost all adjustment.
Fault codes were J_14229_DTC_B12A2, same_B12A1, same_B1298 all referring to an internal switch fault in the steering column.
Recently the same happened to my Jag XF Sportbrake after coding in a new key and 'playing' with the BCM. I realised I had no steering column adjustment. Using SDD I ran a steering column config routine and the column adjustment returned. When running this routine you need a code from a label on the steering rack. Fortunately, with the XF, they put the same required code on a label next to the small battery, so it is easy to find.
The the RR, you need the label off the steering rack - SDD did not say it was anywhere else. It is an oblong label; on the left side it has D06MA in large text and AH42-3C529-AC in small text with a build date below that. Centre and right are 2 barcodes with text below. You need the lower barcode and text.
After removing trim and inverting myself in the footwell I could just about make out the label. I was using both a phone and an inspection probe with screen to try and read the code. It was apparent the code was partially missing but the barcode was OK. I ended up having to peel the label off and scan the barcode with the phone to get the code.
In my case, I read the barcode as 2-U34D7215EE60P. What was accepted by the SDD routine was U34D72I5EE60. Notice how what I thought was a 1 was in fact an I.
Adjustment in the steering column was returned and the 3 faults gone.
I hope this helps anyone else with this issue.
Lastly I did this using SDD. I presume you have a similar steering column config in Gapiid? 2010 5.0 SC Autobiography Overfinch in Bentley Silk White pearlescent, 22" Overfinch wheels with 285/35x22 tyres
