From memory I agree the airflow is upwards.

To answer my own post, after studying the innards with a torch and a hoover, I can confirm the airflow is upwards.

Recently ordered an L322 pollen/cain filter (Britpart) and no arrow on the frame at all. Any thoughts as to which way round it should be? One side is grey (charcoal), the other is white. I imagine there will be others with the same issue given it's a common replacement part.

I've just fitted a Mahle Pollen/Cabin Filter. Must say I was a bit confused. Unlike yours it had a description on its front end - and I slid it in so that the writing was readable without standing on my head in the engine bay. I then had second thoughts because the direction of flow arrow on the filter was pointing down. At the time I didn't know that the direction of flow should be pointing UP, ie skywards, until I checked with fullfatrr experts. The moral of me story is: ignore the orientation of any words on the filter and insert it with the direction of flow arrow pointing up. |
