[Wanted] 5.0 Supercharged L322 - budget to £12k

Hello,

I am looking to buy a 5.0 Supercharged L322 over the next 2-3 months. I would like a car that has had the timing chains & guides replaced and a full service history. I have no strong colour/interior preference. Budget to £12k for a lower mileage car. Thank you. [/quote]

Don't get too hung up on a lower mileage car.

A higher mileage car that's been well looked after and properly maintained could be a much better proposition then a lower mileage car that's only had regular servicing carried out. Thumbs Up

Good choice though, the 5.0 L322 is a fantastic car.

Thanks David - in doing research on the engine and the dreaded chain issue I found myself reading your thread yesterday - an incredible amount of difficult work went in there....were you a JLR engineer in a previous life?! I have looked at higher mileage models that have had lots of engine work done but have been put off by the thought of a gearbox with 160k miles through it - how long should these boxes last?

Nope, working on my cars is just a hobby for me Smile

At 160k I'd want to see an invoice to show the gearbox had been serviced at least once Smile

Around 100-120k a service invoice would be good, however, as long as it's changing gear nicely I'd not be too worried and I'd get it serviced then. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Do you mean just an oil/filter change or full mechatronic overhaul?

Oil and filter change Thumbs Up

If you can find one that's had anything else then it's a bonus.

The ZF 6 speed gearboxes don't tend to give much trouble to be fair. They're a pretty robust gearbox.

I bought my cheaper/high mileage knowing I’d have to do some work. I’ve probably done a lot that would have needed doing on a low mileage way more expensive car anyway. But it had a lot of the spec I considered my idea car.
I’ve just had my gearbox refurbished at 187k miles 😬.
Sometimes I want to sell it 😂 2010 Supercharged
