I have bitten the bullet, and bought myself a 2012 L322 SE 4.4 tdv8, and am due to collect it on Wednesday.

I will then be driving it over 500 miles home on Thursday.

Well done you have come to the right place, this forum is gold, you will have tens of things going wrong, or need sorting with your L322, but once you are on top of it, you will be driving one of the best machines on the planet, all the best !

I almost get disappointed when there's nothing to do on my 2012 VSE. Enjoy the drive back, it's a bit daunting for the first 100 or so miles, but then you settle in to it.

I doubt that I shall relax until I'm home. but I am looking forward to the drive.

It's only 500 miles.

Hey Steve, when I went on holiday to the Highlands last year in mine, I filled up here in South Wales and it got me all the way to Perth 465 miles with still a quarter left in the tank, but that was going via Lichfield and then up via the A1. 3 lanky kids, 2 adults and luggage, nice steady 70mph with loads of 50mph limits in road works. I was quite chuffed with that.

That's good, BB. I shall have to have good control of my right foot, I think.

Santorini Black, Ivory leather. Factory privacy glass, which I am not fond of, but can live with.
Up rated audio. I've no idea what that entails.
Rear passenger entertainment screens.

You might find it’s actually Sumatra Black - there was an issue with supplying the Santorini paint constituents from about 2009, due to Japanese tsunamis as far as I recall. I have exactly the same year, and model with the ivory seats. About 90,000 additional miles mind you.

It’s a classy looking motor with the privacy glass - factory is fine and you’ll come to appreciate it.

I am planning a nice, steady, tootle up the road, with an overnight stop at Penrith. If the weather is kind, there could well be a good photo op.
