Hi all

I've had a slow coolant leak for a while, so the car went into the garage. They've said there's a split in the EGR cooler casting and it's weeping from there.

They're a bit concerned as to why it failed and if there's something else causing the failure. They don't want to replace it, to find we're back here in a few months. Especially at the cost !!

Are these prone to failure ??

I cannot answer your question, but I am in a very similar boat to you (I've had a coolant leak for quite some time now).
I'm interested in knowing which garage you took your RR to - I'm not far from your location (just up from Evesham) so am always on the look out for a garage who are 'Range Rover' friendly

My local will do the servicing, and MOT, but they don't want the hassle of investigating my coolant leak (they're always busy and have a high turnover and small workshop hence not wanting my dinosaur taking up all their space )

Morning, sorry for the dealy in getting back to you.

Yes it turns out the EGR cooler is a common (ish) problem as is the intercooler gasket failure. Both on the same part of the engine, in the V.

I use Malvern Motor Services in Spring Lane North, Malvern.

I wouldn't say they are RR friendly but I've used them for years for a variety of cars and we know each other. I'm realistic about these things so don't have the over expectations of the average mug punter which needs appeasing when things aren't perfect, that life and I'm a petrolhead.
That said, they're used to my car and have done both jobs on it, so they maybe open to doing another.

One thing I like about them is their honest but not cheap. I believe honesty is ultimately cheaper, you just have to get there. They're not specialists in aim the parts cannon at your wallet ! LOL
