Adjusting soft close doors

Both of my rear doors have tempremental soft close ability, one side worse than the other but neither work consistently.

I think it's just an adjustment thing, the system doesn't seem to realise the doors are half latched.

Question I have is...what exactly am I supposed to adjust? Has anyone done this successfully?

found this in an old thread,

intentionally close the door so that it does not fully close/ seat. Then apply pressure on door handle towards the car as if you are pushing the door inward. The soft close will kick in and close the door. ... - .- -.

The soft close is a motor in the bottom of the door… How it works and how you adjust it I’m not sure? Changed a few that had failed but have never been asked to adjust one… Cant be that difficult though!

Remove the door card and look in the bottom of the door and you’ll find said motor on an 18” cable assembly… 👍

Thanks, this does work to make it kick in, but is not an adjustment of any sort, you have to do this every time...

Got it, I will have a look. Maybe the cable is stretched or something.

The driver's door soft close does not always work and I would like to lubricate or adjust as required. Is this easy to for someone with very basic DIY skills and if so - what do I do please? "There is no replacement for displacement" - W O Bentley

Just had my driver's door soft close repaired. It was the "micro"? switch in the soft close motor so the motor was functioning but the door did not suck closed.
Cost £489 motor & labour 😓

The driver's door on my new to me MY21 often re-latches when opened from inside, usually requiring multiple attempts to get the door open even when on level ground.

Is this an adjustment or lubrication issue? I'm tempted to spray silicone lubricant into the door catch but haven't remembered to do so when convenient. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims

Mine's rear doors have an enclosed spring attached to the door that pushes against the body when the door is nearly closed. This spring prevents soft-close from operating unless gentle pressure is applied to the door. The spring also pushes the door open away from the striker when opened. I need these springs on the front doors but the spring housing is molded into the door, not a simple screw attachment that could be duplicated on the front.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd rather not disable soft close but I'm getting sick of having to open the door multiple times before I manage to escape soft close. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims

Same here. Passenger side was intermittent and getting worse. In my case the deployable step would not close when the soft close did not function.

Took the latch apart. Found one of the micro switches to not consistently make electrical contact. Looked for a replacement without any luck. Took a small syringe full of isopropyl alcohol stuck the needle inside the dust boot on the tiny plunger of the micro switch and squirted the fluid in there. Been working ok since.

Edit: Lol! did not realize this thread was from 2021.

I found a solution to mine's drivers door over zealous closing by placing a small sponge block between the pillar and the striker. I'll keep an eye out for a black rubber block that offers more resistance that won't need to protrude as much, but the sponge block is solving the issue. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims
