I need four new tyres soonish, I'm going to go with Pirelli PNCS tyres but there seems to be 5 available

Decision is not going to be based on price... Thumbs Up

When I replaced mine I got the Y rated ones without noise cancelling. I don't find the car that noisy and with the stories on here about wheels becoming unbalanced due to the foam shifting I don't see the need for taking that risk. I'd choose the higher speed rating, not because I'm going to be exceeding the W rating speed but why not? Might it be more stable when towing? A plus that it's the cheapest too. I've been happy with them. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Not 405 but got the Zero PSCNS on my L322 and couldn’t recommend highly enough

Annoyingly had to do tears on my 405 with almost brand new fronts so went Verde again, but had I needed 4 it would be zero PCNS

Hi Pete,

Generally, the Verde is best for quietness and comfort, but the Zero is best for outright grip & performance, so your driving style has much to do with it.

The problems with the PNCS foam are now historic, I believe.

Either are excellent tyres, so you can’t really go wrong. V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

Thanks for the input guys.... it's a bit weird as I keep seeing different info, from Pirelli itself they say....

The Scorpion™ Zero All Season tyres are the perfect solution for sports SUVs, developed in collaboration with the biggest car manufacturers with the aim of ensuring excellent performance on both dry and wet roads. The Scorpion™ Verde tyres are ideal for summer. They are lighter and have low rolling resistance.

Indicating that the Verde are summer tyres even if they have the snow symbol..

The Zero spec is...

110W XL (LR) SI RP TL

The Verde is...

110W XL (LR) SI TL

Similar spec, same speed rating up to 168MPH, load rating, to over a ton per tyre, but the Zero has a rim protector, the Verde doesn't.

Then there is the noise.... Verde 72db Zero 69db which is a significant difference....

From Google

Specifically, 72 dB is approximately twice as loud as 69 dB.

It's very confusing...

I'm leaning towards the Zero's... Pete

you wont get a 'perfect' quiet tyre Pete, with different road surfaces one minute its acceptable the next bloody loud..

i and many others on the forum have bought 'take offs' or complete wheel/tyre sets of ebay, worth a thought.. Wink ... - .- -.

Cheers Stan, had two sets of takeoffs before and yes, a good bargain available...

All 5 of my wheels are damage and scratch free and I can't find any other design I like so may as well just buy the tyres I want and not have whatever is available on ebay...

I do check every couple of days though... Thumbs Up Pete

Not sure exactly which Verdes I've got from your list....they were chosen by Craig! But they've been fine since they replaced the original Conti's two years ago. Its these

Like many, I know if I like what I've got (or not) but don't really know if one of the others would be better. FWIW I do like them. Noticeably quiet but nowhere near silent - good grip in all conditions - tow well and true. Road conditions and grass fields - no proper off roading. Also very noticable that the diamond cut wheels are very shabby again Big Cry - next refurb they'll just be painted, the lacquered metal didn't last 5 minutes. Mike - MPx

Thanks for that, the ones I have on now are 4X Verde but worn and old, one rear has a 2010 date and the other side looks worse it has early signs of perishing but no date stamp...

I guess it had old ones when new to have a tyre 4 years older than the car...

The front two have no date stamp either and are at about 4mm, they suffer from terrible tramlining, I end up a middle lane hogger when there are some lorry ruts on the inside lane... I just can't drive in it....!!!
I suppose any new tyre is going to be so much better than these...!! Pete

Alistair, yeah they are 22's and the size and spec is different...! Must be very similar though...

MPx Never found a wheel refurbisher that will diamond cut for a second time, the recon they have to remove too much alloy so that fit's nicely with your wants....

Personally I prefer the "one colour all over" look of full powder coating... Thumbs Up Pete

Hi Pete, interestingly the quote from Pirelli doesn’t mention Verde All-Season, it just says “Verde”.
Of course lower rolling resistance means longer life & better economy Whistle V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

Well spotted... Found this when specifing both all season tyres...

Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season and Scorpion Verde All Season are both all-season SUV tires, but the Zero is designed for sporty performance while the Verde is geared towards comfort, fuel efficiency, and longer tread life. The Zero offers better handling and grip, especially in sporty driving conditions, while the Verde focuses on a quieter, more comfortable ride and lower rolling resistance for better fuel economy.

In that case why do the Zero's state economy grade A and Verde grade C

And the Zero is half the noise of the Verde....???

It's doing my head in.... Pete
