Upcoming warranty service visit dilemma - aftermarket steps | |
Taking the 2023 L460 in for its first warranty service at a dealership I've never been to before. I just bought it used with 38k miles. I'm taking it in for squeaking that is occurring from the rear when turning slow, I think it has something to do with the rear steering.
I've fitted perfectly working aftermarket side steps that open and close with the doors opening and closing.
These are identical to the factory ones, including installing the alternate jack sill points, however, since the control module is aftermarket, it isn't integrated in Pivi, therefore you can't put it into roof access mode. So they would have to keep a door on each side left cracked open/stick a towel on each front door side latch so you can't close them while it's on a 2 post lift, pretty sure they are going to need to take the rear wheels off.
Is this going to be a problem? I could also easily unplug the module while the steps are deployed before I go there and just tell them.
