L322 Unique Audio CarPlay Install – Black Screen Issue

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of help from anyone who’s installed one of the Unique Audio CarPlay systems in their L322s.

I’ve just gone through installing one, and at the same time I replaced the blower motor (huge thanks to @GaryRR for their fantastic step-by-step guide – absolutely brilliant. My hands are shredded, but I got it done!).

So, with the CarPlay system - I followed all the instructions, watched a few YouTube videos, got everything loosely plugged in (didn’t put the whole dash back together yet), turned the car on, and… the radio came on, all the buttons work (you can hear it switching between channels), power seems to be running fine - but the screen is totally black.

Tried holding the hang up button to cycle to CarPlay, but nothing. No boot up screen either way.

Unique Audio suggested restoring the system back to factory. So I stripped the unit down again, removed their circuit board etc and put it all back to standard and back in the car – and still, same problem: radio works, buttons audibly work, screen stays black.

Worth saying, the screen worked perfectly before I started this!

UA suggested it might be a low battery issue – apparently if the car’s voltage drops, it might cause the screen not to power on? Has anyone had this? The car hasn't mad any low voltage warnings on the dash.

I’ve been charging the battery overnight and will test it later, but honestly, I’m not convinced that’s the issue.

Just wondering if anyone here has run into the same thing or has any advice? I’d really appreciate it!

Forgot to add, it's a 2012 Westie, if that helps/makes any difference. I bought the dual view Car Play system.
