L322 Front Bumper removal / Replacement.

I'm hoping someone can help; I have a 2004 4.4 petrol L322. The front bumper has seen better days and has come off its mounting on one end. I have a good friend who will spray it, but I'm concerned about refitting. Has anyone done it, and are the new clips still available. I'm in Oxshott, Surrey. Does anyone know of a good body shop that would refit the bumper?

Just want to know what I'm letting myself in for. Thank you, Graeme

It's quite straightforward and new clips are available from a number of sources including Rimmer Bros and John Craddock

I'm also interested as I need to fix the LH headlight wiper. I believe the bumper has to come off to remove the wiper motor.

I found that using a local 'chips away' franchise it was far cheaper than using a local body shop that I had a quote for just doing the front bumper - with me removing it and taking it to them. They quoted £600 (£500+VAT) which I totally get as they have a lot of business cost overheads that a mobile painter doesn't have.

I talked to chips away and they were keen enough to negotiate a price of me having both front and rear bumpers done for £750 with various scuffs and cracks repaired and full repaint of both.

No need to remove either of the bumpers. It took a day and half for him to do the job in two separate visits and I am extremely pleased with the result. I can't comment on whether a body shop would do a better job but I cant find any defects, overspray, colour mis-match etc.

At the end of the day its all down to the skill and care of the painter as to what the end result looks like. I'm sure many people have had bad outcomes with chips away as it is a lottery Current: 2003 TD6 HSE. 161,000 miles
