Towing / reversing sensors

I’ve got a Cabanon trailer tent with a 7 pin socket, when I connect it to the car (I’ve bought a 7 to 13 pin adaptor) I’ve assumed that the reversing sensors should disable? When in reverse it’s a pain as the sensors are just going off all the time. The button on the dash panel doesn’t seem to do anything, the light isn’t illuminating when I press it.

I’ve used the IID tool to select “7 pin” but this hasn’t made a difference either. The tailgate on my trailer does have LED’s if this makes a difference?

Has anyone any experience of this and can advise?

Thanks 2011 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey

Just a thought, does the trailer tell tale illuminate on the dashboard when using the indicators?

My Westminster expected the load of tungsten bulbs. It did not recognize the small led load.
There are modules available but I simply put resistors in parallel with the trailer stop lamp circuit to fool the system. Works a treat. Forty years of progress. 1972-2012

The lamps are all working on the trailer tent tailgate yes.

There’s nothing showing on my dashboard display regarding a trailer though. Mines a 2011 car if that makes a difference 2011 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey

There is no difference in the towing lighting between 2011 & 2012 as far as I am aware.
A resistor in parallel with each trailer stop light will draw extra current, enough for the vehicle to recognize something has been connected.
You will get a message asking if you have a trailer connected. There is a list of potential trailers - caravan - transporter etc. Select the nearest to yours and all should be well.

I can't remember what value I fitted to mine but Amazon has these.
