Do I sell or keep?
sell for whatever you can, rust is the enemy

keep as every car has rust. Get the motor working and worry about it later.

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Java Black
Conflicted

I'm conflicted. I'm new to L322 ownership and picked up a very cheap 2007 3.6 tdv8 L322 Vogue SE with 150k. Car has full service history. As with my other post, it needs the drivers side inlet manifold replaced as currently have black smoke and the performance doesn't feel like it should (although have not driven another 3.6)

However, when lifting the car the rear jacking points have disintegrated. Quickly speaking to a local independent it will cost around £1500 to fix. It's not clear if thats replacing the entire wheel arch, painting etc.

Car has some other issues, rear and front lights have seen better days, rust on the rear tailgate, and one ding in the front drivers door. The inside is absolutely mint, the air ride system works and had the compressor recently replaced. New discs and pads before I bought it too.

I could sell the car and make around £500 loss, or I could keep going and repair the rust. What makes me want to keep the car is the engine, it does sound great (but obvs have some issues that need sorting), and the interior is great. It could make a good car...

Or do I buy something that's a little more fun like the 4.2, which could retain values as a little more niche car?

What is clear is that I love the L322 styling and comfort so have to have one!

Any thoughts welcome...

IMHO get rid of it, it sounds like it's reached money pit status and once you start spending you'll find it more difficult to stop.

United Kingdom 2017 Range Rover Vogue TDV6 Corris Grey

Ditto from me, it sounds very much like a car that hasn't been at all looked after well, who knows what else is waiting to happen....... V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!

England 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Oslo Blue

i had rust and other issues with mine just before the previous MOT and was like you on the verge of chucking in the towel, however my daughter knowing how much i'd always wanted a Fatty talked me into a series of repairs. whilst i'm in no way a perfect welder i managed to completely rid the sills of rot and all other issues and i'm pleased to say it's passed this years MOT with no advisories Laughing

i learned loads doing it and if you have the time all bits are available and as daughter would say no "land rover" is ever too far gone....
