[For Sale] 1998 Defender Wolf 90 TUL FFR- Immaculate | |
1998 (R) Land Rover Defender Wolf XD TUL FFR Hard Top
Genuine ex MOD Land Rover Defender 90 Wolf Extra Duty Truck Utility Light Fitted For Radio. Original military in service registration was LS16AA.
I have the full V5 and also the full military history file (Merlin Report). This details the regiments it was deployed to and when, it's fault history, service history, modifications list etc.
Finished in IR NATO Green and having been professionally resprayed recently, this is without doubt one of the straightest, cleanest examples I’ve ever seen. You could be forgiven for thinking it was almost new. The panels are immaculately straight. The chassis, bulkhead. crossmember etc are all rock solid because of the Remus programme- see below.
The Army put a number of Wolf vehicles through the REMUS programme by Defence Support Group to prolong their life by wax injecting and coating almost everything (especially the chassis and bulkhead), adding front and rear anti vibration acoustic matting, a front section to the full Roll Over Protection System (engineered by Safety Devices). This 90 has all of that.
An FFR was designed to be a radio station in the field with one or two radio operatives in the rear. Fitted out with Bowman radios and racking internally they were essential front line vehicles.
Purchased by the MOD under the contract No LV2A/088, it is one of only 275 of it’s type.
The MOD are no longer casting decent vehicles, usually ones for scrap or parts so getting your hands on one of these is now much harder than ever, and they will only become rarer in civilian hands.
Fitted with the 300Tdi (111bhp) and R380 gearbox, power steering etc they are lovely to drive, the absolute ultimate in ex-military Land Rovers. With the distinctive side mounted spare wheel, radio antenna and GRP roof over the safety cage, they have a distinctive and unique look on the road.
This vehicle is 24V, with twin 90A alternators. Sitting on a matching set of 5 Michelin XZL 7.50x16 tyres
This example drives superbly and commands a presence on the roads like no other Defender. You don’t need to be one of those people who pretend to be in the Army to have one of these, just a love of a unique and immensely capable and tough Defender.
On the rear crossmember is a full NATO tow hitch, designed to take the Penman trailer (best trailer you’ll ever get).
You could also remove all the FFR racking if you need to (I did that on my 110 Wolf) and free up the space, put benches in the rear etc
Please PM me with any questions.
