United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black
[For Sale] 1993 Defender 90, 74k, 1 owner Time Warp Car

Hi,

After much rejuvenating work I am proud to showcase this Defender for sale to a loving home.

Photos and a Youtube video link below.

This is not your average tatty old Defender - this is a very rare piece of history, a vehicle that's just like when it was made, 32 years ago. No modifications, no stuff added on. Just a beautiful era of a standard vehicle.

Time Warp Defender in stunning original condition:

1993 Defender 90 200Tdi, 5 speed LT77 gearbox
1 owner
74,300 miles
12 month MOT till August 2026
20 years of MOT history
2 sets of original keys and fobs, owners booklet
Just serviced using genuine parts
Interesting history

NO modifications, bolt ons, chequer plate, updates or bling. Not even a radio. This Defender is a timewarp example, exactly as it was built, original panels, paint, chassis and bulkhead.

I’ve only replaced things where it was absolutely necessary.

Pennine Grey bodywork with Alpine white roof
3 front seats in Grey vinyl. Centre seat with lap belt
5 x Boost alloys with Continental Cross Contact tyres, 235/85/16, all new wheel bolts
Recently fully serviced using Genuine Land Rover parts to include engine, gearbox, transfer box, diffs and swivels (all drained and refilled)
New rear crossmember with extensions fitted, new mudflaps (Cross member was the only bit of the chassis that was getting a bit thin, so I went with belt & branches approach so you don’t have anything to worry about)
Witter adjustable tow bar with twin electrics
New Rear Safari door Professionally sprayed, new genuine period interior door trim, new seals and threshold, new spare wheel carrier, Dinitrol cavity waxed. This was the only panel that could not be salvaged from the original, so I went with all new rather than second hand. Frame strengtheners also fitted.
New windscreen and seal, wiper arms, blades and spindles
New Hardura floor covering in the front, rubber mats and rear rubber mat
New Lucas interior light replaced in headlining
New sidelights, indicators and headlamps, surround panels and grille
New number plates front & rear
Entire chassis and axles treated with Lanoguard
A file of receipts for parts and materials purchased

Other points to note:
    Galvanised front wheel arch liners
    Galvanised front suspension turrets
Recent replacement front swivels in A1 order (prior to my ownership)
Bulkhead top corners are solid including vent hinges solid and working

The Story Behind the vehicle:

I like to find down-at-heel but original looking Land Rovers and rescue them from an uncertain future. I do this as a hobby as I enjoy the process – I’m an engineer’s son, so it’s in my blood.

I love originality and honest patina in a vehicle. This vehicle was just SO original and unmolested I knew I could bring it back to its former glory.

Ove the past year in my ownership I’ve spent hundreds of hours working on the vehicle, fettling, fixing, rejuvenating. The paintwork was a mammoth task but with such rewarding results. No panels were resprayed (other than the new rear door of course).

You will not find a 32 year old Defender with single ownership and such low genuine miles, and with no modifications over the years such as this. It truly is a time warp vehicle, allowing you to appreciate exactly what it felt like to own one back in the early 1990s.

Most vehicles of this age are extreme high milers, lots of previous owners who have messed them around and changed the original recipe. Not this one. This is a show winning example. Original condition vehicles attract much greater admiration and praise than resto-mod built from scratch everything is new types. Rebuilt old Defenders are ten-a-penny now.

The 200Tdi pulls strongly, purrs along at 70mph, gear changes are just right, no adverse noises. No horrible noises from the drivetrain.

Front push button doors are original. All locks work. Wind up windows (mechanisms inspected and greased), any rust was cured and sealed inside the doors, frames are solid. Slight amount of electrolytic corrosion on the passenger door, however this is a 32 year old Defender and has much less than most.

You have the peace of mind that all fluid levels have been checked (as everything was drained and refilled with quality correct grade fluids), all filters are genuine Land Rover (no Britpart here).

A vehicle like this deserves to go to a good home, where its originality will be preserved and maintained, not to be changed into a modern parts bin.

Is that you?

Asking price is £17,499 ono. PM me if you’d like to know more.

Happy to answer questions, add more photos etc (I have hundreds)

I’ve done a little video to YouTube to showcase him to you – here’s a link.
