Hi everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum. Fun fact: when I wanted to make an account it said that the username was already occupied. So I did a ‘forgot my password’ and it seemed I made an account in 2012, far before I got a Range Rover haha so the enthusiasm was already there.
I’ve had a nice contemporary yellow RR Classic 3,5L 3dr which I sold.
About a year ago I bought a RR 1976 3,5L 3dr in Lincoln Green which we are gradually restoring.
And just a few weeks ago I wanted to buy a cheap Volvo C70 convertible so I could take my 2 kids to the south of Portugal (6000 km or so) but ended up buying a 2006 4,2L SC 🙂
My best friend had one for some time and loves it. My uncle in the US has a 4,4L since new and also drives it regularly still.
My kids love it and so do I. I didn’t expect it to be so nice on the motorway even with higher speeds (160 km/h +) although fuel economy then is almost as bad as the BMW V10.
So, 3 days in ownership I drove the 6000 kms without major issues. Only on the way there 10 minutes from the destination the gearbox went into service mode. Probably the higher speeds, hills and Temperature were just too much. Had it checked at the dealer but all was ok.
Now I want to correct imperfections as worn interior items and sagging headliner. Maybe do a bit of dry ice cleaning of the underside as I have a customer car booked in. So I could do the Range as well.
Thanks for letting me join. Hope to learn a lot.
Martijn
