Just completed a 5hour trek back to the midlands for a funeral tomorrow and left gloucester services and the light came on.

Can't give a definitive answer as to causing damage but if it was me I'd drive it home... |

Me too - IMHO amber is a warning and red means stop..... |

From memory the exhaust gas temperature sensor not working can cause the car not to regenerate the DPF. If that's right, worst case you'll get a DPF warning on the dash.
