Adding Lane Departure & TSR - Issue with mounting Mirror

Hi Guys,

Been reading threads on this forum for months, and finally decided to do the update to my 2014 FF RR AB to get Traffic Sign Assist.

I am having an issue with the new mirror, in that I don't know how to mount it. Looking at the pics below, am I missing a piece or do I need a different windshield mount?

I will also be getting new glass soon as mine is broken, do I need a different glass than what I have?

Thank you in advance for the help guys!

How did you get around this mounting issue?

Yes, you actually have to change the windshield to the updated part with the right mount.

I had a new one ordered at the time, but the glass had to come from the UK to the USA, and there was no inventory, so they were waiting for the glass to be made in France (Pilkington) sent to UK, then here in the USA to me.

In the time I was waiting (4 months), I ended up trading the truck on a newer AB LWB, so I never completed the upgrade. I still have the parts available incase anyone wants to do it to their truck.

I managed to get the windshield mounting from a junkyard, got the one in the car out using thin wire, and installed the one from the junkyard with windshield adhesive. The difference is the one we need holds the mirror, but the one in the car is held by a different mechanism that looks like a "bolt" stuck to the windscreen. Here is a pic of the old and new side by side, not the best pictures but FYI it is do-able.

The rain sensor is the same, no need to swap that out.

You might need to shave a bit of the new mirror top plastic cover to get a good fit around the "bolt" stuck on the windscreen. Also some extra tint film around the camera if you have OCD.

If you are due for a windshield change, you might as well go that route and save yourself the trouble.

Good luck
