Battery Disconnect

Planning to do a big job on the 405 (Rear timing belt Shocked ) and of course the first thing is to disconnect the battery. My first question is: will I still be able to close the boot and open it again with the battery disconnected? and the next question: It's a PITA getting at the battery to disconnect it. Just wondering if anyone has thought about wiring in an isolating switch, for maintenance, accessible from the boot or spare wheel compartment? They have them on Ebay but I'm wondering if it's as simple as I'm thinking.
Cheers.
Pete

Oh Well. Back to the drawing board. I can envisage a nightmare if I ever run the battery flat. of course I could give it a jump from the bonnet charging point
Thanks
