| Rear fuse box wiring loom shorting - check your L322 | |
Greetings everyone,
Allow me share the scenario.
After hitting a bump on the road, the rear wiper came on and stayed on, even though the rear wiper stalk was in the off position.
This was one that I thought may take a lifetime to diagnose.
I checked and tapped all the wiper relays to see if I could trigger it, but there was no response.
By luck, I was closing the rear fuse box compartment, and when pushing the cover closed I got the wiper to come on!!!
I diagnosed it to a wiring loom chaffing against an exposed metal bracket, and shorting one wire, which happen to trigger the wiper to come on. Pure luck.

Zoomed out view of fuse box, blue arrow shows the location. Have tried to reroute the loom so it doesn’t pass over the sharp edge anymore:
Hope it helps.. it might not be the wiper coming on in other cases, but it’s worth checking that loom making contact with that sharp edge of the bracket!
