Evoque now the 'flagship' on rangerover.co.uk

Why why why when you visit this website is the Evoque now 'the power of presence' and the first vehicle you see? Yes everyone's talking about it, but THE Range Rover is still the flagship model, 'old' or not. Bad move by Land Rover IMO and if they shift as many Evoques as they want to then that will be one big dilution to the Range Rover brand...they were something special that weren't everywhere on the roads. It was bad enough when the Sport came along....need I say more.

Porsche went down that route, and I dont think it did them any harm really. (I still love them!)

I think it will just mean they depricate quicker as more hit the roads which could mean the Classic could end up gaining value again! Reformed

exactly, come the end of the day the owner of the business wants money and so they're going after the biggest market they can. You can't really blame them.

I do wonder what the future holds for Range Rover though.
Before, Land Rover was the maker & Range Rover was the flagship model of that brand, but now they seem to have made RR the maker & Evoque, Sport, Vogue, Vogue SE & AB the models of that brand.
Perhaps they may split the company at some point & RR will be entirely separated from LR...who knows.
All I know is the TaTa man must have so much dosh, I'm sure it won't matter what he decides to do with this little company he has in his very large pocket !

Can't see what there is to get upset about really. The Evoque is the newest model in - like it or hate it - the Range Rover branded series of cars. So they're going to put it on their web site in the most visible spot because the chances are that's the thing most new visitors are going to be there to see at this point in time.

I don't agree with the brand dilution aspect either. The Evoque is still a premium car, given the starting price is 28k and it goes all the way up to about 45k. That's not cheap in anyone's book. Diluting the brand would be selling Range Rover branded tinned beans or something.

The FFRR might still be the flagship model, but you're looking at a marketing campaign for a newer model not a redefinition of the relative superiority of the whole range of cars. And all of this makes no difference to the amount of FFRR's they will sell or will be on the roads as of today. So if having something big and luxurious that few other people have is what really floats your boat then the number of Evoques on the road is irrelevant isn't it, since they are not anything like an FFRR visually?

Me, I don't care - I'll just put the suspension into off road mode and sneer downward at the bird sitting in the Evoque next to me at the lights, whilst simultaneously trying to look down her cleavage Mr. Green
