Reduced Engine Performance on 2006 MY Supercharged | |
Bringing my car home last night, I was alarmed to lose power on the motorway. It felt like I had lost all power at first, with a gradual deceleration, and no response to throttle. In fact, power was still there, but I was limited to 50 mpg because of the 'reduced engine performance' fault.
I also go a message of 'transmission fault'.
On doing a little research it appears highly likely that this is a relatively common fault caused by a wiring 'problem' (the reality is that on a number of Supercharged FFRR and Sports, the factory put the wires wrong way round) on the supercharger auxiliary cooling pump.
You can read more about it below, including the TSB number:

Question is, when Range Rover issue a TSB, rather than a recall, on a fault like this, which is clearly their responsibility, how likely are they to do a repair F.O.C.? OK, it's a six year old car, but really they should have done a recall on this, for god's sake they put the wires on back to front.
It's stupid things like this that lead to the poor reputation Land Rover have for reliability, they try to hush up things that affect every car, instead of just routinely rectifying them when affected cars go in. If they were a little more pro-active, and fixed known fault pro-actively, they would have much better reliability! 2012 SDV8 Vogue SE
