Warranty work - not at main dealer

Folks,

Can this be performed outwith a main dealer?

Wife's lower tailgate won't open & the passengers side front electric window goes up & down about 5-6 times before closing.

Nearest main dealer is Town & Acounty Aberdeen, but don't wish to put the car there.

Thanks

I've been told in the past that as long as the garage you use is VAT registered, they can carry out warranty work just as a main dealer would. The only difference is that the main dealer will have all the bespoke tools and diagnostic kit required to do the work whereas the independent may not. See what other forum members say, but that is what I have been told by several independent garages. Steve

I thought an indy that is VAT registered can carry out normal work as long as it is to LR spec and that would not invalidate the warranty but only a main dealer can do warranty work 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone
2005 4.4V8 (M62) Bonatti Grey/ Parchment interior - gone
1998 4.6HSE Blue/ Cream interior (can't remember exact colours) - gone
1977 White - gone (should have kept)

Frank Ogg in Elgin is well respected and collects/delivers to Aberdeen (and has been known to leave a temp vehicle if you ask nicely).

That said, I've never had a problem with T&C on the few occasions I've used them...

Not sure if anyone other than a main dealer would consider doing warranty work on a car because of the time it may take to be paid by the warranty department?...unless of course you pay the independants bill yourself and then make a claim, but then I would make damn sure this is agreed with the warranty dept first, and before shelling out for work you may not need to pay for...

Example - Ring ring, ring ring..."Hello is that the LR claim dept? ...oh good, I have just had the Supercharged engine on my 2 yr old FFRR replaced cause it went pop but the work has been done by independant rather than one of your main dealers - so if you could just forward the £££££££££££'s its cost to replace, that would be great"

Cannot see the remainder of that conversation going in your favour to be honest Whistle

Our experience of T&C is very lethargic on the sales front (to the point where we've walked away from to purchases as nobody got back to us even after phoning and requesting call back on 3 vehicles since salesmen we've dealt with have had days off) & very unprofessional on the workshop side. I'm not going to publish details.

Frank Ogg sounds like best option if they collect.

Thanks
