Headlamp light brightness compared to D3

Folks

As I have the luxury of a Disco 3 and an FFRR I'm interested in how they compare... apart from the obvious I mean.

One thing I've noted is that the Xenon lights on the D3 are noticeably better on both dip and main beam, than the Xenons on the FFRR. Both are Bi-Xenon (ie one Xenon unit for both main and dip with the powered shutter) and both have halogen main in-fill lights.

Both seem properly adjusted and all bulbs etc working. Can't recommend looking into either of the beams from close range though Shocked

Thoughts? Graham

got to admit my xenons were good but not that good so i replaced the 4300k bulbs with 6000k ones and now have a brighter, whiter light. ... - .- -.

Same as Scarey, I upgraded mine to the 6000k ones, go well with the led side lights but still have not got around to the fogs yet. Reformed

i must admit i have been thinking the last few mornings that my lights are not that bright in comparison with my trusted little Skoda.

by the sounds of it an upgrade to 6000K bulbs seem to be a good idea??

where is the best place to get these from? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Just to avoid any false hope here, the higher the colour temperature, the less light will be output.

Most OEM xenons are 4300k and are as close to daylight temperature as possible, and the higher the colour temperature from 4300, to 6000 to 8000 to 10,000 then 12,000 the light gets progressively more blue until you reach ultra violet, As the colour temperature increases the ability of the human eye to "see" this light decreases.

Nice charts. To my eyes, the 5000K and 6000K look brighter than the 4300K... Whistle Graham

Maybe it was because they were tired?

It would have been interesting to compare new 4300k to the old 4300k

Anyway, I've gone for chavvy 8000k Whistle Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
