cooper ltz on 20" wheels?

couple of questions
I have managed to get myself a 2004 FFRR vogue on lpg and i love it but it is ready for tyres. It is currently running the 20" 7 spoke alloys(similar to the rangie at the top of this page) with 255 50 20 tyre but i would like to put cooper ltzs on like i had on my D3 but they arent available in this size??
Will the 275s fit with no issues,or am i better finding another set of wheels that are slightly wider?
Will RRsport wheels fit with no problems as these seem readily available and seem to suit the wider tyres better
Thanks in advance
Paul Thumbs Up

the standard wheels are 8.5j and you will have problems with wider profile tyres...RRS wheels fit ok and are 9.5j which will take wider tyres....
275/40/20 which is the normal RRS size is to small in equivalent diameter for the fullfat so you need something like 285/45/20 which is the closest and will fit the 9.5j RRS wheel.. ... - .- -.

I am no expert but I thought the 275 would fit an 8.5j Standard Wheel.....

here's a link to a rim width calculator...

http://www.alloywheels.com/tyrecalc.asp

if you put 275/40/20 into it the result is 9j to 10.5j ... - .- -.

OK it must be the 20" bit that makes the difference. Surprised

Using the calculator:

My 275/65 R18 STT's need a rim between 7.5 - 9j.....

Well done Stan Thumbs Up

Why not make an offer on these:

Great Value as priced but if offer box there you will get them cheaper......

Saw those, trouble is they are listed as 275 55 20 profile which will mean they are quite a bit bigger radius. My old D3 had 275 45 20s???

It's not the 20", Gary, it's the aspect ratio. The taller the tire, the more you can 'bend' the sidewalls in and the narrower a rim can be. If you take Stan's 275/40 20 and change the aspect ratio to a 275/65 20 you can use a 7.5"x20" wheel.

I have the same sized tires as you on my ff. And I'm running the OEM 18" wheels which are only 7.5" wide. Great for off road as the wheel is buried in rubber and relatively well protected. On road the RR is a little loose on turn in as the tires have to fold under the wheel and settle before the car can settle into the corner.

Sorry for the thread hijack but I also thought I'd take the opportunity to show all looking at low profile tires what a proper ff looks like. :P

No, d'you mean that seriously Gary? Shocked

It says what I did on the number plate: EASControl Razz .
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic7139.html 1st Post in the thread explains it and there is a vid showing its use.
You can also use the IIDTool as it has these functions as well (with many more comprehensive functions as well). BTW, you are the last poster in that thread.

I'm going to change my sig to 'Rods are primitive' Laughing
