Iphone in Vogue with DSP etc...

Hi,

Just throught I'd share some info - in case it's of any use.

Had a chap come the other day to fit a box of tricks to play iphone music through the stereo system in the car (2004 Vogue).

He bought with him a box called a X-car interface or something - anyway - it goes in the boot with a lead to the front for the iphone/ipod. The idea is the tracks show on the screen and the steering wheel controls all work to select tracks etc. It replaces the CD player on the system.

Well - that didn't work as my car has DSP (like most RR's). So in the end he fitted a Parrot Mki9200 - brilliant - he's made a great job and the sound is superb. Works to play music from iphone (and charges it), USB stick, SD Card or line in. All the track names etc (and the album art) come up on the little screen (fits perfectly next to the dashboard instruments (Speedo etc) and also can pair with up to ten bluetooth devices for telephony.

Really impressed so far. In fact, the only niggle is that the sat nav sounds are muted when the iphone is playing music.

it wasn't a Dension - although that was another option - but that also wouldn't work with DSP apparently.

That surprises me, as I successfully installed a Dension gateway in my E60 BMW with Logic 7 and since your vintage of RR is BMW based, I can't imagine any reasons why it shouldn't work .................. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

You may be right about that - but I have to pitch in for the Parrot - it's really good!
