Can anyone tell me when the gear boxes changed from the 5 speed to the 6 speed. I ask as Iam looking to get a face lift vogue but have been told the early ones had 5 speed boxes.

6 speed "box" came after the exterior face lift and with the new interior so if it's desisel BMW td6 is a five speed and TDV8's are six speed if its petrol then you need to see that it has the new interior with terrane response. 2008 MY Supercharged

Bang on. There are some facelift TD6 out there with the 5 speed auto, like mine, but the give away is the old interior, and no terrain response. Discovery 4 HSE

The early facelift petrol with the Jaguar lump also has 6 speed box (2005-).

That's the one I bought.

Interesting , so you say the six speed "box" was briefly available all be it only on the petrol without all the other changes that came with it ? 2008 MY Supercharged

Yes Axle, mine is early facelift - outside, gearbox and engine anyway... The interior was no different looks wise but is touchscreen & bluetooth phone integration with satnav DVD etc...

Don't think it was available for long either until they did away with the petrol for the TDV8 - shame really as it's a lovely engine/gbox combo with none of the driveshaft/final drive problems associated with the BMW petrol.
