Clattering Noise When Turning ( Coming from NSF )

Folks,

Annoying clattering noise coming from the NSF when turning to the right at moderate speed, just changed the drive shaft but noise is still there ?

Any assistance would be greatfully recieved......

Sounds like a bearing type joint breaking up maybe? I'm not sure what they call it these days, used to be a CV joint, or known as a Wheel bearing in normal cars I think.

Have you done a visual check to see there's nothing out of place in that area? Discovery 4 HSE

Sounds like it could be a wheel bearing to me - shouldn't be a CV joint as incorporated into driveshaft (which you've already changed.

With the vehicle sat on flat level ground, get a good hold of the suspected wheel (about 10 & 2 O'clock position) and rock (push/pull) with considerable effort - probably worth repeating on all wheelstations and comparing... You should feel the wheel station rocking with excess freeplay if the bearing is on it's way out. Also don't be afraid of getting a torch and having a good look around the hub assembly at the back of the wheelstation - you may see something there.

Hope this helps some... Thumbs Up

Well, one week on and 2 days in the local Land Rover dealer and still the same problem. The drive shaft has been changed and apparently there was a recall/mod on the early LR322 models which involves modifying the front diffs. Not sure if anyone is aware of this. This was thought to be the cause of the problem, but no Sad

Think its a sign to order a new 2010 FFRR ! 2005 Audi A8 W12

Yes, was a well documented problem with the BMW transmission - front diffs/final drives req'd modifying...

Why did the garage release the vehicle with the fault still present???
