oh no, new key doesn't work

I bought a non flip key blank from fleabay and swapped all the gubbins over, I took it to Timpsons who cut it for me, all good.

The key works perfectly in the door lock and the car senses it when inserted in to the ignition as you can hear the click to release it but the Censored won't turn.

I fear it is fractionally out but it works in the bloody door, grrrr...

I even put the old key in the ignition and kept the new one touching the blade so the transponder worked and the car started so I know the electronics are working.

How in the hell am I going to work out whether a they've cut too much or too little and why does it work in the door lock which must be like new compared to the ignition barrel..

Any ideas chaps?

ps, does all swearing get bleeped out or can you override it??

what I experienced when I tried a flip key with an Ebay shell, is that the transponder seems to work in a particular direction.

In one direction, the car started, if i returned the transponder, the car won't starts.

when i had a key blank cut he would not accept any returns, he said it will or wont work but if it does not its not his fault, he done it and it worked.. so i think it must be hit and miss in the key cutting world, if i am right the transponder chip is shaped so it will only fit one way, have you tried a little jiggle to see if it will turn, just thinking try taking the transponder out and hold it near the ignition with the old key, find the best place for it to work and then try the new key with the chip in the same place, this will tell you if its the key or not V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

The flip key was the same oodathort talk about page 3 of this thread :

But due to poor quality of the shell, I went back to the old system...

Tried all sorts of wiggling, there must be one very small bit that's not quite right and it's not letting the barrel turn even though the transponder works perfectly and you can hear the lock disengaging.

The locksmith told me the same thing > no returns....Sad

Out with the nail file, hopefully it's a bit that's a bit big rather than something that's been over cut. Fingers crossed.

You should tell the locksmith if he had done his job properly, you wouldn't have needed to return it... Whistle

Hope your filing produces the required result.
