Auto dim Sat Nav screen

I've noticed that sometimes my touch screen dims. I have convinced myself that it is not a fault but a feature, i.e. when it gets dark outside it gets dimmer to avoid me being dazzled.
But is it, or is it the next Censored bill? If it does auto dim where does the sensor live?
Thanks Thumbs Up Geoff

Mine only dims when the lights come on

Have you checked to see if your lights come on at the same time?

Also does it dim with the display dimmer next to the lights twist switch?

It's doesn't seem to be tied to the lights coming on it seems to have a mind of it's own and yes manual dimming will make it dimmer 9or brighter) whatever state it is in. Geoff

i'm sure the sat nav dimming is linked to the sensor for the lights and that sensor sometimes gets dirty or gives false light readings hence the occasional glitch. ... - .- -.

It may be that the light sensor is dirty. Perhaps the lights do come on aswell but it's light enough outside for you not to realise they are on..?

Makes sense that it's linked to the light sensor though. Ash

Sometimes I have to remind mine to dim by increasing the brightness by one notch and then reducing it - the link between lights on/ light sensor and screen brightness is fairly random for me!
