United Kingdom 2019 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Santorini Black
Back from my FFRR Road trip Holiday

What a superb way to get about Europe, in your very own Range Rover! Very Happy Not only does it feel good to have your own independence but to cruise around in a RR makes life oh so much better.

From start to finish the old girl never missed a beat and these highlight the trip:

Calais to the Cote D'Azur in 10 hrs including stops
Averaged 25.3 mpg overall
Covered 2,800 miles in 2 weeks
Major stops for the 2nd week included Monaco, Pisa, Lugano, Grindelwald, Etoges, Gosnay, Calais and home again.
We saw no rain at all until 10 minutes after getting back off the Euortunnel (worst rain, hail and electrical storm I've ever driven through Shocked )
Highest recorded temp got to about 36 degrees, aircon at lowest fan level was enough to keep us cool
Privacy Glass did its work keeping sun out too - never be without it
The FFRR even got heads turning in Monaco where the Sport was all over the place like a bad smell Cool

Here's some pics to highlight the trip. Advice to anyone who's thinking about doing it...its brilliant! Discovery 4 HSE

From there we went to Pisa and the best fairground ride ever made!

Whilst in Grindelwald we went up to The Schilthorn- home of the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service in 1968. Did you know the film paid for the building of it in the end as they ran out of money to complete the work?

In the morning this was the view from our room...The Eiger.

Onto Lugano on the Swiss Italian Border, great scenery once again....

Finally to a couple of French Chateaus, to swan around looking for wine and champagne (mission accomplished! Thumbs Up )

It was a brilliant time, expensive mind you but still, more interesting than just going to the Caribbean for 2 weeks again and now we have done it and learnt a few lessons we know exactly what we would do next time.

Touring the Epernay region was SO good. Driving through the villages and just stopping at random champagne houses, tasting their wine, buying some, moving onto the next. Average price for a bottle of normal cru Brut or Premiere Cru was anything from €12- €16 a bottle. Bow down

Grand Cru champagne was about €18-25 and Magnums (normal Cru) were about €30. A total bargain. We went to Veuve Cliquot House, but it was overpriced and touristy, wouldn't bother going again. The independent growers are where its at.

Next time we'll take less luggage so we can buy more wine! Where we stayed you can get to easily in one day from the UK. Piece of cake. Discovery 4 HSE

I'm tempted to throw a tent in the car and go off now! Except I cant go on the Eurostar because I run LPG (even if the tank is empty)

Mapmuppet, you are right, it was the 6th film in the series.

Dan, you also can't go on the Eurostar cos they don't allow cars on it! Thumbs Up Discovery 4 HSE
