Bye bye 2002 V8 hello 2010 4.4 TDV8

The 2002 has gone after six and a quarter years.

Picked up the 2010 4.4 TDV8 last night.

It is an SE, Santorini Black with Ivory interior.

Its got vision assist and RSE, different 20" wheels and of course a tow bar.

Its also got illuminated tread plates, did not notice them until it was dark and they must rate as the most useless extra.

The dealer is still trying to get me the build standard but the man that knows how to do it was on leave yesterday.

Really liked the ACC when I tried last night and on the way to work this morning.

Pictures to follow.

Ian

Sounds nice Ian Smile

ACC can be very addictive, though i wish it was like the Merc/volvo system and worked all the way down to 0 as on the SSRR i drove recently it stopped at about 20mph and cut out.

The Forward Looking Alarm feature was good as well as part of the ACC Smile

I have loaded some pictures in the gallery, including the tread plates, photobucket is playing up so cannot load them in here.

I am surprised how different it is, it is much quieter and smoother and I always thought the old one was smooth and quiet as did people who had never been in one before.

Got 28 mpg going to work and 30 on the way home so a big improvement.

A bit surprised that there is no longer a first aid kit or warning triangle as standard, not even the mounting for the warning triangle, do you get a mounting kit if you buy a triangle?

It may have a climate control windscreen as it has some strange symbols on it, anybody know what they mean?

3 symbols on w/s 1 looks like heated, 1 looks like an ear with an arrow circling it, third is a thermometer with + - and an arrow.

The salesman has managed to download the build standard and it is in the post.

The ear with an arrow is the symbol for "Acoustic" glass, ie it is intended to deaden external noises.... t'others I don't know Graham

I got the build standard and it does have a climatic windscreen and an electronic locking rear diff.

Also worked out how to post a picture in here.

Nice spec. I really like the 4.4TDV8 so far.

Lovely car! It may be quieter and smoother, but does the engine noise sound as good as the petrol when you open it up? I don't think I could be tempted away from petrol because of the sound, but I am told the tdv8s sound pretty nice!

Pretty much, yes. I was amazed at the noise of the 4.4 I drove, obviously on kickdown at speed, the petrol will sound better, but normal driving, the TDV8 does sound quite nice. 2006 Mercedes CLS
