Specialist or independents in Glasgow or nearby?

Hello,

I am planning on picking up my first RR (a 2004 vogue in dark blue (buckingham?) with cream) in the next 4-6 weeks, just as soon as I sell my current car. I am buying the car from a friend, so had it for the last week, and loved it. It also gave me a good chance to give it a 400+ mile test drive, as I wouldnt fancy buying one of these without testing all the many many things that could and can go wrong!

Anyway, are there any good independent garages round about Glasgow that look after these cars? I work round the corner from Taggarts in Maryhill but doubt I would use them for anything other than the odd part or two.

Only faults I could find on the car were some of the dash pixels dead (found a very good online guide to fix this) the heated steering wheel button just made the light flash (I maybe was not doing it right) and I had no idea how to work the air suspension so didnt test that.

J

A 2004 car in dark blue will be Adriatic Blue, most likely with Parchment interior.

To test air suspension use the control dial in centre lower dash area. Turn anti clockwise to lower the car and clockwise to go up. There are 3 levels, Access, Normal and off road. There is also a button on the drivers door in front of all the window switches which will drop it to access height.

Heated steering wheel takes a minute or so to warm up. Switch it on and leave it for a while, you should feel the wheel warming. Discovery 4 HSE

Thanks for the info.

Suspension - I tried that, but the light on the diagram just flashed and nothing happened. The button in the middle (which I think I now realise is the "hold" button) was on. Hmm. Sounds potentially expensive. There were no messages on the dashboard that anything was wrong.

Heated wheel - the little red light in the button would just flash once when pressed - it wouldnt stay lit- and the wheel never heated up. Fuse/relay/ecm issue perhaps?

Suspension:

If the button in the selector was on, then the car was locked in access height, press it till red light goes off, then try moving the suspension. Car lifts and falls front and back alternately so don't panic when it does. If there are no error messages then there's nothing to worry about Very Happy

Not sure re heated wheel, maybe the fuse? First point of call to check I guess.

Anyone else had this? Discovery 4 HSE

Ah, I think I maybe wasnt doing it right then - as I did manage to get it to do that, but that was just when fiddling with it.

If the heated wheel and the dead pixels are the only things up with it then I will be pretty happy at that. It has full history, nokia bluetooth, nav, tv in motion, PS2 with rear screens, running boards and the 20" petrol vogue wheels (its a diesel) so is a nice spec. The fact that it is a friends car (he has owned for a few years) makes me less nervous, as some that I have seen on the trader look like they have had a hard life.
