enabling the AUX HEATING feature on the FBH

Not the usual thread about "Have I got one" - more of a how do I....

My mate has Autologic and I went over there today to ask him to enable it for me but we could't find the right place in the menu to do it. He said they (Autologic) mess around with updates sometime leaving things out so this may have happened but just wondering if someone knew the correct menu to go into the find the setting to enable it..??

Thanks Ash

Update

So I dropped the rr off this morning for my friendly specialist to turn it all on for me but he couldn't. He tried auto logic and that said it was all enabled but nothing showed on the screen. He then tried his t4 and it came up with an ecu mismatch on the immobiliser ecu and went to the next screen to say it was a prototype vehicle and cannot be configured!

Anyone heard of this before and is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks guys

Very Interesting- I tried enabling Aux Heating on my 2007 via my local dealer and Testbook, and they also got an error message.

Prior to trying, I had contacted LR customer service, who advised against changing the factory configuration!

Not done anything else since - 2007 is a funny year, and I sense that fighting the system may only result in lots of dosh going to the dealers.

Hang on for a bit Ashley - and Steven (what happened to the TD6, BTW?).

CCF editing for the IIDTool is in progress - FBH activation is one of the priorities as this seems to be a very popular request. Will probably get done in time for spring. This winter seem to be a mild one anyway, though. Razz

We use T4 and have had 3 cars in over the past 3 months with " it was a prototype vehicle and cannot be configured!" message...

Have spoken to Land Rover tech and they think its a bug maybe being left by Snap-On equipment... They are working on a solution apparently!

Craig Thumbs Up

Cool - Thank you Steve... The Autologic can read it all and set it but it doesn't take and the T4 just comes up with the error.

Great news (sort of) Craig. I would really appreciate it if you do get an answer from them that you could let me know the fix..!!

I love this forum - so many helpful folks on here.!

Thumbs Up Ash

You can't turn it on with autologic or T4.
You need to change the software configuration first: that you buy from LR.
If you don't buy eg a Microsoft Office package on your PC, you can't use Word or Access etc.
I 've had it done through a official LR dealer, it toke about a 1,5 hour upload. that was on my previous TD6.
After the upload of the new software I had the AUX heating on the MID.
Can't ask the guy anymore what exactly the software was as he has left the dealer.... RR 2012MY TDV8 AB ipanema sand

I am certain that you should be able to activate it using IDS, and my dealer agrees - it even says so in the "kit" instructions, and there is an option in IDS.

I think therefore that the issue is either that, as suggested, it is a bug, or that for the ecu to be reprogrammed, the valve must be installed first (perhaps the ecu checks to see if the valve is present?)

Got paranoid about the gearbox, plus a few other niggles, and so made the mistake of driving a TDV8 - after that I just could not go back!

It is present in the OEM systems. I spoke to both dealers and Webasto last year. Webasto makes a 'Park Heat retrofit kit' but requires the customer to go to the dealer to have the ECU unlocked.
I don't believe it will have anything to do with the valve - it is not necessary on BMWs - same system.
Operator error or another error?

Actually, if we ever do meet up you'll have to drive my TD6. Chipped. I was disappointed the first time I drove a TDV8. I expected more.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread but - Craig - Did you ever get any feedback from LR re the prototype issue (supposedly a remnant of Snap-On)..?

Just mines going in for a service soon and it would be good to "fix" the ECU's so they can be programmed properly.

Thanks Ash
