Why I bought a Rangie

We swapped my wife's two seater SLK for a rangie back in the summer as we were begining to think about starting a family.

Shes now 14 weeks, and she's told me..

Graco I think they are called are great ones!

If you get a choice between ones with padded arm rests and the like and ones without, always go with as they clean easily and offer more comfort when the nipper falls to sleep!

For travel systems they are good to, and also quinny.

The systems with a large push button release are great as you can gave the pushchair assembly ready and just pop them from car to push chair and be off! Great for wet or cold days when you need little hassle Smile

And after you have bought them set aside a fees hours to RTFM and YouTube how to get them up and down and adjust as there are so many ways they can be setup with the seatbelts across them but usually only the correct method is safe!

Look round stores like mothercare and toys r us to see the units and then go away after you have found one you like and see if an retailer online do it any cheaper. We did and saved over £100 on our travel system, but for the old type pushchair or it cheaper in store as they had a damaged box one on offer for £15 less than online Smile

Before you buy, check that your car has "isofix" small isofix tags sewn into the rear seat... By far the safest seats for your kids...

Craig Thumbs Up

I'd say join the NCT (National Childbirth Trust), and go to one of their nearly new sales, and pick up all the travel systems, travel cot, etc etc at maybe 25-50% of the new cost. The babies will never know the difference, and put the money towards their education (or your car!). You can waste thousands on all this stuff, and everybody sells it a year later through the NCT good as new.

Also if you're new parents and get into the NCT course, you'll make some great friends locally, and learn some stuff which will make you feel much better prepared. Highly recommended, sort of like the fullfatrr forum for sprogs! Thumbs Up 2012 SDV8 Vogue SE

Yeah, I'd second that. We made some great friends (16 years ago now) through our NCT group and still see them all regularly. The babies we all had then are now approaching 16 and they're great friends. It's like an extended family. As a new Dad I found the support and friendship of other men becoming fathers for the first time a real help. Graham

Also remember mother care will price match. They don't advertise it but I got quite a bit off with a simple google search and showed the shop assistant my phone. John Lewis will price match too if you have one local. When we had my son 2 years ago my wife went mental and we got the full hit: car seat, isofix base, buggy, travel cot. What a massive waste as he spent most of his time in the car seat attached to the buggy chassis. The carry cot cost a fortune and only got used 3-4 times. EBay is a good place to try but you would have to talk the boss into it. Never managed it with mine. Make sure you try your buggy/stroller in your car. We had a mini countryman at the time and just guessed the size and put it this way if fitted but the boot was useless!
Oh and congratulation to you and the your good lady! Thumbs Up [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Congratulations Very Happy to you and your wife. Consider joining TAMBA - Twins and Multiple Births Association.

Be sure to get yourself a couple car seat protectors. I would really recommend Sunshine Kids. They are only £14.50 from a seller on Amazon and are really good.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sunshine-Kids-Ultr...amp;sr=8-1

Car seat wise I would recommend the Maxi Cosi capsule initially for up to 6-9 months with the Easy Fix base (there is a non-ISOFIX base if your car is not fitted with ISOFIX). You can use the base with their Group 1 seats as well. The capsules work with most buggies like Quinny, Bugaboo, etc. Beyond Group 0, we used the Bebe Confort (now Maxi Cosi) Axiss as it rotates 90 degrees making it easy for the child to get out of the car. Unfortunately it is not a ISOFIX seat. My daughter is 4 so we go her the Britax Kiddifx as it was one of the only ISOFIX based group 3 seats I could find.

As you will be making a few purchases, be sure to sign up to Quidco to get cashback on your purchases. All you need to do is visit the site you want via Quidco. Sites like Kiddicare and Mothercare usually offer cashback.

As Rob suggests, John Lewis is a good place to get stuff as they price match before and up to 28 days after the purchase. Paul
