the old style rubber cover was flat so when ever you lent in or pushed next to it you would here the lock solenoid going mad but the new rubber has a hard lip round the out side of it and stops this happening V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

That used to drive me mad every time I leaned in the back. I bought the new rubber cover from the main dealer, £1.20.. The cheapest FFRR part I have ever bought! Previously..

Ahh, I thought that was an 08 upgrade not as late as 2010... I have fitted lots free with services as a free upgrade...

late MY 06 / early 07 vehicles had the new rubber cover from the factory. Many have been lost though on older vehicles as they pop out easily when you lean into the boot.

2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Java Black

i've a 2011 TDV8 and never noticed this before.

it deffo has the small hydraulic thingy in the lower tailgate and that does let the tailgate lower sensibly if you give it a nudge.

But if I just press the 'open' button for the lower peice, it doesn't actually drop down....hmmmm - i.e. i have to knock it to make it 'fall' (slowly) open. Should the open button actually make it open outwards too?

Why? Just make sure everything is lined up right, use a centre punch if you have one so the drill doesn't skip about then just take it slow with the drill. Nothing to it. Just remember to dab a bit paint on the hole to rust proof it a bit before you screw it down. 2006 Mercedes CLS
