I think they're way way off. My inside source says it'll look broadly similar to the L322, and the spy shots seem to show a very similar profile. I don't believe the roofline or interior space will change for a start! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

They'd be stupid to make it radically different, they've progressed so subtlety over the years, one of the spy shots had a side view and the front bumper corner made it look like an Audi A6 all road but other shots ive seen look more like the L322. I guess it's the camouflage doing its job well. Let's hope it isn't like their renderings. 2006 Mercedes CLS

I think it's going to be quite l322 like but sported up with aggressive lights and grill, and the wider arches ... But itll still very much be a rangie. V8 or else ...

You cannot blame LR for designing for the maximum sales and profit. No business can afford not to. They have the same problem with the RR as with the Defender and Porsche with 911, Aston etc. What I hope is that they do not lose the 'stately', sophisticated and imposing feel. I will be disappointed if there is too much of the Evoque influence as it really is much of a fashion statement and I think it may date quite quickly.

Doesn't Land Rover want to make a bigger Evoque? That's what I read somewhere. So what's the point of making the L322 look like the Evoque?
Some subtle changes are maybe needed, however I'm happy with mine. The current L322 might be 10 years old but it's still a head turner.

Agree with you Nick, the Evoque will date quickly. Just look at the RRS, it has been looking outdated for 2/3 years already. As for the 911 I think they've done a good job so far, although not my cup of tea.

I agree, but that doesn't mean you have to alienate your long-standing customers.

Image is also more easily lost than gained - Range Rover didn't become a name strong enough to split off into a separate brand by flogging tinsel-bedecked flash to the reality TV crowd.

Agreed. However, LR made the mistake of leaving the Defender to appeal to their long standing customers and the sales have gradually dropped away leaving them with an almighty job to do.

The balance will be appealing to the 'new' to the brand FFRR buyer AND having sufficient tradition to keep the old guard (me) on board. Add into the equation that the traditional markets (USA & Europe for example) are having a bad time and the new money is in places such as China, (Brazil, Mongolia (!) Russia too) where the tastes are culturally different. I certainly would not like to be a product planner/designer at Gaydon, Lode Lane or wherever the bulk of the design work is carried out. What we need to hope for is that LR recognise the strengths of its flagship and build upon them but continue to have the genius to generate new segments (RR,Discovery, & Freelander) but not to dilute the brand further with anything in addition to the RRS and Evoque.

My list misses one or two other motors (non LR) that will not fit into the signature limit! But always an RR.

Certainly difficult, but I'm not holding my breath. The 2010 RR facelift and the Discovery 4 were awful, both spoiling what were really excellent designs.

Maybe there should be a non-footballer option pack, with a plain, non-sparkly grille, vents, wheels and so on - they could call it County or something (without the door stripes, obviously).
