BM54 Reference

I know this is a regular and probably boring topic, but:

Seeing as the BM54 upgrade looks like the only possibly way of getting an aux socket for MP3 playback in my MY06 FFRR (was thinking of the Intravee route but apart from the fact that allegedly they're discontinued, I also think they're for pre-touchscreen models?) - anyway:

are either of these the right units to work on the RR and to provide the aux socket input?

or

Don't outbid me now!!

Thanks.

the first units has pre OUT for an extra amp,its not a aux in...the second one looks right as you want a B54 from a bmw as they had the aux in on them, but you are better off asking the seller if it has the aux in ...
cant tell from the pins but if it had the plug still in the back you can see the extra plug... V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Neither units will allow aux input.
The top unit is a standard BM54 radio tuner modified with pre-amp outputs fitted to overcome the common output channel failure.
The bottom unit is a standard BM54 radio tuner.
Both will fit an L322 non-touch screen, the first will need to be fed thro an external amp, the second is a direct replacement.
Need to check both to see if they are square or round pin.

OK thanks, I'll have to keep looking.

It's really frustrating not being able to play MP3s. I do have an FM modulator but I'm in Europe quite a bit and it seems you get a lot more interference over there so you're forever retuning.

Don't know if its possible on the MY06, but if you have a cassette tape behind the screen, you could simply tap into the tape audio wires like I have for my carpc:

This is on the old non touch screen though with cassette tape, and you won't get any playback info. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

I don't think there's a cassette anywhere (I used to do that in the old P38) but there's no reference to it on the screen and I've never found anything which tilts out to get to a tape drive, thanks though.

Both listing are or were for BMW BM54 tuners BUT both are earlier versions without the aux input function. Exclamation Exclamation You can tell the age of the tuner from the part number label. The 'KW' number gives the build week and year - in both cases week 51 of 2002.

I cant remember exactly when they changed but it was around late 2003 so to be on the safe side find one with KW:**/04 or newer Thumbs Up

Here's one for you: (see label in the second picture)

I've just clicked on your model and you state yours is a 2006 FFRR Shocked

BM54 tuners are only compatible with pre-touchscreen models 2002-2005 - thats why you cannot find a cassette player Rolling Eyes

Andy.

This is exactly what I was thinking all along - you guys aren't reading what he wrote and he's going to end up buying a BM54 for a touchscreen RR!
The best choice for oem style integration is the LR audio connectivity module. It is actually listed for the post 07 models but it will work fine on your 06. You have to remove the dash to get at the back of the head unit for the install tho. Not too bad. Do a search. Been covered several times.
