Aerial Cables (again!)

Afternoon chaps,

I can't quite see myself paying £300+ any time soon for a secondhand BM54 with questiobale lifespan remaining - but I would like to listen to my MP3s in my MY06 FFRR without an aux socket or any other means of connecting the player. So, I think I'm going to go down the route of a hard-wired FM modulator. Have used one before with passable results.

So today's question on (to save me trying to remove the dashboard top unnecessarily) - are there aerial cables feeding into the back of the head unit or not? Or does the existing BM54 in the boot feed the signal to the HU via other cables? Reason for asking - I guess that the closer the FM modulator is to the HU, the less interference (working on the basis that the modulator to some extent blocks other signals when in use, but if there's 5m of aerial cable between the device and the HU this will be largely negated).

Thanks.
