Dealer feedback and a techno question

Dealer has had my beast for a week ( yes a week ) to replace rear balljoints and do MOT. Went to pick it up and it was there ticking over. I asked why it was running and they said it wouldn't start and it had to be jumped. I reckon they have had radio on while its been sitting about. Adaptive headlamp warning light was on and they said its normal due to loss of power and will go off when restarted a few times?
Next day battery flat as a pancake - AA turn up and say it wont hold charge. £130 later for new 110 varta it starts first time BUT the headlamp warning still on anyone had this before?

Secondly, and this will make you laugh as it did me - the MOT has 2 advisories - 1 is the engine has coverings on it preventing work and 2 there are protective coverings underneath the vehicle !!!!!! What ? I'm sorry didn't your company make it like that???? Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 2006 MY Autobiography. With 'toys'

Sorry to hear about your woes. My MOT came back with the same advisory, make you wonder if you can just put a piece of black sticky table over the dash warning lights to get past the recent changes which (as I understand it) make having the TPMS warning light on a failure by April... Turn it into an 'advisory' dash has sticky tape covering preventing work.

Had the adaptive headlight warning after a dead battery. Cured by lock to lock a couple of times IIRC.

Either that or drive for a while.

Balljoints.... see that's what you get when the Mrs knows your password....mmnnn. Rolling Eyes

No she means bushes, £55 for parts and £240 for labour !!!

And the warning lights have gone off now thanks all.. Razz

The advisory wasn't about any warning lights but about the engine covers that the car is produced with which I just find plain stupid. 2006 MY Autobiography. With 'toys'

Covers are good and bad at MOT time. MOT inspectors are not allowed to remove them so if you have something to hide they can do the job very well, however they can also cover up nasties that you would rather know about and have rectified.

£240 labour was steep Shocked

I would imagine that by stating that the covers were in place the MOT inspector can limit his responsibility and therefore liability.

Over in here in N.Ireland our MOT system is completely independent, we have around 12 government run MOT centres staffed by MOT inspectors. The system works well and is pretty fairly run, but it can be a bit of a nightmare getting a test date at busy times.
