Regarding movement of the strip, if you heat it up (hair drier) and pull it down and out, it will come away from the glass, and it can then be put back in line with the glass. Don't try hitting it; it's too compressible and there is too much friction with so much contact with the glass...

My 2012 hasn't got it. Its a pain as on a white car the dirt from the rear screen (and the diesel - don't believe that it is completely clean coming out of the back) shows up and is difficult to clean under the edge of the glass. 2019 D5 HSE Lux SDV6 Indus

My 2003 (US MY) DID have it.... Until I removed it.

It was dried-out, cracking and falling apart, so I got rid of it.
I would put a new one in, but from what I understand, it's not so easy to install as it is to remove. 03 HSE Range Rover (U.S. Spec)
