Morning all, been working abroad, sorry for the delay replying!

@Craig - checked the tyres and nothing obvious there. I spoke to my local indy repairer and he said that although the steering rack balljoint issue was quite common on Discos and RRSs (same thing!) it was less so on the FFRR. Anyway, he doesn't think it's a panic or dangerous so I'll get that sorted after the holiday. Island 4x4 do the parts for less than £20 a side - I presume it's a fairly straightforward swap (gaiter off, unscrew inner balljoint, replace, get the alignment done?)

Did u get this sorted Cappo? I'm having the exact same issue (worse when turning right at around 15mph) and was looking for ideas before the dealer tries to bullshit tomorrow me that there's nothing wrong....

Noticed a similar thing on mine the other day whilst driving onto the dealers forecourt. Don't think it was anything serious. Going to check it out when it gets back. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi Swirl - no, nothing done, not least because the remains of my T-boned FFRR are currently spread all over the floor of a bodyshop!

Prior to that, I had asked around and checked the car. The only thing I could find was some very slight play in the inner track rod ends - apparently not uncommoin, and the parts to replace are readily available, but I don't know whether that will fix it. Anyway, after noticing the problem, I drove to the Alps for a week, spent the week driving up and down Alpine hairpins, and the car was fine (although could still hear the noise sometimes) - so it can't be anything too terminal!

Will be interested to hear what they think it is on your car!

Could simply be the centre diff trying to do its job.

It's meant to try and balance torque to the front and rear axles, based on their different rotational speeds. Going round a sharp bend will make the props hafts turn at quite different speeds and the diff may be fighting it. That fight may get transferred back to the tyres and cause. Bit of scrubbing.

It used to be a common problem on the older classic rr which had a limited slip type coupling. It could seize up a bit and on sharp bends and corners it could cause the inner wheels to scrubb a bit due to the diff not allowing different prop shaft speeds. V8 or else ...

After having the car for 16 days the first time and 5 days the second and almost £1k of warranty work done they've still not fixed it even though they said it was when I went to pick it up - both times!!! Bushes, bearings and track control arms (rear I might add....?) all been changed. Going back in on 16th for them to hopefully sort this time. I've had other ppl mention the diff being the issue but they're not gonna look into that as an issue apparently. It's also getting worse by the day!

Can't understand why they ring me to say all is well and within 30secs of leaving the dealers I can hear the noise, do they not test the car after changing a part or fixing it these days??? Shocked

I've also noticed the steering wheel being slightly off and both times it's been in they've sorted it and within a few days it's back to being offset again, any ideas if it cud be related???

It's defo not a squeaking noise, difficult to describe. Suppose it's like very very bad tyre roar is probably the best description I can give. I'm positive it's not the tyres, if it were then surely it'd happen going both left and right....? I can also feel a slight vibration under foot when this occurs, not sure if it's normal or part of it but I don't feel it when turning left or cornering right faster/slower than 15mph.

Anyone on here live near the bedlington area (Northumberland) that fancies meeting up to give their opinion?

Quick update on this. I asked the dealer to swap the tyres as that was pretty much the only thing not tried and low n behold, the noise went.

I was gobsmacked as I didn't actually think that'd be the issue. The car is fitted with Accelera Iota's which seem to do a decent job even though I've read many bad reviews about them. They took them off and put some toyo proxes on so using same wheels and no noise.

So, at least I know it's nothing dangerous or major and I'm happy to put up with the noise until the tyre swear out and need replacing. Still don't understand why it's only at exactly 15mph and predominantly turning right with steering wheel turned at 180 degrees.....
