Rear Wiper

Just recently the water jet from the rear window has stopped, but the rear wiper motor is still working but no water , have tried putting a fine needle into the hole of the jet in case it was bunged up with dirt , on doing this small droplets of water start coming thru , but when i go to use the rear wiper -- Nothing no jet of water ..........

Any ideas Guys Thumbs Up

This happened with mine after I bought it, would take ten wipes of the screen before any water came out.

I think they replaced the jet nozzle fitting completely as like you say, a needle did not clear whatever was the issue. It's also worth checking that after you have tried to wash the screen, open the top tailgate and see if water drips out anywhere, this shows that water is being pumped but not getting through and that you now have a leak or a disconnection. Discovery 4 HSE

I know that the top tailgate always drips water when you open it (and normally it all pours just inside the lower tailgate Censored ) but you'd be able to tell if there was more water than normal.

Can you hear the pump going when you try to work it? Have you noticed any damp spots in the rear of the car (indicating a leak)

Personally I think the rear wash wipe mechanism is rubbish, why they can't put one of those nozzles on that sprays nice foamy water all over the rear screen in one go is a mystery. Something other manufactuers have done very well... Discovery 4 HSE

Pump works fine, no overspill water on the top of the tailgate, no damp spots within the boot area......... Confused

if you can gain access to the pipes, try disconnecting the pipe from the nozzle and seeing if water comes out. Then you know it's the nozzle at fault (obviously!)

I've not done this myself so I can't tell you how to get at it...sorry!

quick question,

mine doesn't spray but literally floods water out over the rear screen - like a hosepipe without a nozzle... is mine normal or is it goosed???

It might not be 'normal' but at least you're getting plenty of water out, mine takes 2 washes to get clean these days. Discovery 4 HSE

mine stopped completely recently so took it into LR and they said they get at least 4 or 5 of these a week, they then basically cleared the pipe with an airjet and all done! ---------------------------------------------

Mine has exactly the same problem; hardly anything comes out at all. Perhaps RRs develop some sort of prostate problem, after all, they are a male car! Rules are made for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.
